President Donald Trump defeated Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by a margin of 60 percentage points in a straw poll for the 2024 presidential nomination of the Republican Party.
This poll was held at the youth conservative summit, Turning Point USA, thus reaffirming Trump’s chances to secure the nomination once again in spite of recent polls showing DeSantis as equally or even more popular than him.
New Poll Defies Recent Reports
There have been reports recently that Trump is going to announce a 2024 presidential run by the end of July, by September, or before the November 2022 midterm elections.
Florida’s popular Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, on the other hand, never said he has any ambitions for the White House; although he is widely presumed to have them.
He is presently running for a second term in the Florida gubernatorial election.

Poll: Trump is First, Sleepy Joe is Last
As it turns out, Trump remains firmly in the lead in the contest for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
That data came from the Student Action Summit of Turning Point USA, held in Tampa, Florida, over the weekend. This is also on the home turfs of both the state’s Governor DeSantis and President Trump, who lives in his swanky Florida mansion.
The results from the straw poll, sponsored by Turning Point USA Action, have shown POTUS 45 to be more likely to clinch the 2024 GOP presidential nomination than DeSantis, at least at the present moment.
Thus, a whopping 78.7% of the attendees of the youth Republican summit in Tampa declared they would vote for Trump, while only 19% picked Ron DeSantis.
The other potential GOP bidders for 2024 are so far behind that it is not even worth mentioning their names or results.
South Dakota’s Governor Kristi Noem performed best among the others, with 1% of the TPUSA youth summit participants saying they would vote for her for president in 2024.
The youth Republican activists, who took part in the TPUSA summit in Tampa, were also polled on who they thought would be the most difficult Democratic presidential nominee to beat.
The leading Democrat in that regard is California’s woke Governor Gavin Newsom, who was picked by 30.3% of the TPUSA summit participants.
The next Democrats who were chosen as the hardest to beat in the view of young Republicans are Michelle Obama with 13.6% and Hillary Clinton with 10.5%.
Next, came the socialist Democratic US senator of Vermont, Bernie Sanders, followed by 7.9% for current Vice President Kamala Harris, and 5.9% for communist progressive leader US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.
Interestingly enough, Democratic President Joe “Empty Shelves” Biden ended up coming in last, with only 4.4% of the young Republican base saying he would be the hardest competitor to ultimately take down.
