Obama-Era Democrats Don’t Want Biden Running in 2024

During an appearance on Richard Dearlove’s “One Decision” podcast, former Obama aide Johana Maska said Democrats would much prefer to have Biden step aside in 2024, allowing a younger candidate a chance at the White House.

Maska noted the main concern on everyone’s minds is Biden’s age, seeing as he’d just turned 80 last month. He would be 86 by the end of his second term if he were to somehow be reelected into office.

Dems believe Biden should make way for younger candidate in the presidential election

The second concern would be the overall good performance the GOP demonstrated this time around in the midterm elections, partially caused by Biden’s inability to campaign alongside Democratic candidates.

The Obama aide tried to sugarcoat Biden ever so slightly, claiming she’s got immense respect for him ever since they’d worked together in the Obama administration. She then said she hoped he would be a transition president after the Trump era.

What she failed to account for were the series of failures Biden demonstrated from the very beginning, starting with the botched Afghanistan departure all the way to the current economic crisis we’re in today.

She did, however, assure the Thanksgiving holiday he took this year was to recuperate a bit and figure out what’s his next move now that he’s officially the oldest president in US history.

The smallest of victories for Democrats

Even though he’s well aware of the fact his own party members would much prefer it if he didn’t run, Biden never responded to their wishes, instead speculating numerous times he’s interested in a reelection run.

This is confirmed by his staff which does the majority of his work while he’s taking two-week-long vacations in Nantucket. While there’s definitely pushback from Democrats, it’s likely Biden won’t back down from the presidential bid.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo had her own deranged take the other day. She made the bold claim that she hopes Biden will run in 2024, as she thinks he’s been doing a great job uniting this country and its people; the keyword being “believes.”

None of this removes from the fact that Biden’s approval ratings have been abysmal ever since his term started, seeing only minor upticks when Democrats barely managed to scrape through as they did in this year’s midterms.

Polling from before November 8th showed the majority of Democrats preferred anyone but Biden to be on the presidential ballot in 2024, preferably a younger candidate. This doesn’t quite narrow it down, seeing as Biden will be 82 by then.

After the red wave failed to manifest, Biden did gain a small amount of support. Current polls are showing him beating Trump in a redo of the 2020 election; whereas the hypothetical Biden vs. DeSantis matchup would be a massacre in the Florida Governor’s favor.
