Joe Manchin Dodges Questions on Biden 2024 Run

Joe Biden is having an increasingly hard time with getting his own party to keep supporting him.

Considerable portions of Biden’s base have been turned off by his failure to make good on campaign promises concerning student loan debt, climate change, immigration, and a host of other issues.

Multiple officials within Biden’s own party have advised him against seeking reelection. When Democratic Reps. Cori Bush and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were asked about whether they would support Biden in 2024, they largely dodged the question.

Now, Sen. Joe Manchin is joining the list of Democrats who refuse to throw their support behind the current president, per Newsmax.

Manchin on a Biden 2024 Run

The West Virginia senator’s comments regarding Biden’s involvement in the 2024 presidential election fell along the lines of “wait and see.”

According to Manchin, what will truly factor into the equation is who the GOP nominee turns out to be. Later, the congressman said he’s not sure who’s running and doesn’t want to get into the weeds regarding predictions of potential candidates.

Manchin then claimed that regardless of whether the next president is a Republican, Independent, or Democrat, the nation should ultimately want them to succeed in office.

However, when Manchin was challenged for being a Democrat who is not automatically backing a Democratic incumbent president, he still didn’t give much more.

According to Manchin, what he’s ultimately in favor of is “the right person” as they’re campaigning for office. Who the West Virginia lawmaker believes to be the right person isn’t yet known, though.

A Clear Message to Biden

At this point, much of the nation can see the current president is in serious trouble.

Biden is routinely being pummeled by both Republicans and certain Democrats in his party, although on very different grounds of course. It also can’t be missed that Independents have largely grown to disapprove of Biden before the halfway point of his presidency.

If Biden’s not able to even keep his own party on board and enthusiastic about him, that doesn’t bode well for any reeelction plans.

Already, progressives are searching for other candidates who can ultimately defeat Biden in the 2024 Democratic primary and then lead from there. Some names to come up in this regard include Democratic Governors Gavin Newsom of California and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois.

If Biden goes forward with reelection plans in spite of mass crises on his watch as president and depleted support from both his own party and Independents, he may find himself in for a rude awakening.
