President Trump issued devastating criticism against the top Senate Republican, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, calling for his removal.
Relations between Trump and McConnell soured towards the end of the former’s term a year ago; the latter refused to back the then-president’s allegations the 2020 presidential election was rigged. McConnell then lambasted him over the January 6 breach of the US Capitol by pro-Trump protesters.
Trump’s latest scathing criticism of the Kentucky Republican came during his appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures”, in which he was interviewed at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida by host Maria Bartiromo.
Trump appeared particularly enraged by McConnell’s abject failure at stopping the legislative agenda of Democrat President Joe “Empty Shelves” Biden and the congressional Democrats.
No More ‘McConnell-type Guys’
Enraged by the fact that McConnell failed to use the debt ceiling negotiations in order to exact concessions and ultimately defeat the Democrat agenda this fall, Trump declared the Senate Minority Leader to be a “disaster.”
He insisted the Senate GOP desperately needs a new leader to replace the Kentucky Republican.
Trump, in particular, dwelled on the “mistake” McConnell made, in his words; he not only allowed, but also actively aided, the passage of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, which has been labeled as bipartisan.
Trump went after the infrastructure legislation, insisting it is “only 9% infrastructure” and the vast majority of the federal government spending under it is actually for other purposes.
Trump emphasized because of that, he calls the bill one of “un-frastructure”, rather than infrastructure. He was categorical that McConnell shouldn’t have allowed the passage of the bill under any circumstances.
He stressed the opportunity the Senate Minority Leader had to use the debt ceiling negotiations in order to “win everything.” Instead of winning everything, however, Trump insisted McConnell “chose not to.”
Trump also stated the Republican Party in Congress has no use for more of “Mitch McConnell-type guys”. He therefore urged Republican and conservative voters to elect “tougher people” as their federal lawmakers in the 2022 midterm elections.
‘Putin Wouldn’t Have Even Thought of Invading Ukraine’
Trump also stated China owes the rest of the world at least $60 trillion in reparations for its role in the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former president also visited the cities of Houston and Dallas in Texas as part of the so called “History Tour” together with former Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly.
As he spoke for 90 minutes in Houston on Saturday night, Trump revealed how he wished he could have deployed 10,000 additional troops to protect the US Capitol from the breach on January 6, as cited by The Dallas Morning News.
In the same speech, he lambasted Democrat President Sleepy Joe Biden for his failures – from the economy and Biden-flation to foreign policy.
Trump said America’s top enemies don’t respect Biden. Trump also explained if he were the president right now, Russian leader Vladimir Putin wouldn’t have even considered “going into Ukraine.”
